Edmore Takaopwa
Edmore was born in Bulawayo and started work in a nursery school before joining the SPCA in Bulawayo under Meryl Harrison. He was promoted from Kennel Hand to Kennel Supervisor, then Education Officer and Trainee Inspector and received a Certificate of Appointment as an Inspector from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism in July 2003. He left the SPCA in 2004 and joined the Dog Section of Fawcett Security where he worked for 5 years. He joined VAWZ in January 2012 after meeting Meryl Harrison the previous year and asking to work with her again.
“I grew up with animals and had the love for them at a tender age. My Grandfather had 10 Dogs, 2 Cats and Farm Animals such as Cattle, Goats, Sheep, Chickens, Rabbits & Pigeons. He was very strict with the feeding and handling of his animals. I have learnt a lot from Mrs Harrison in all the years I have worked for her. She has vast, unique experience in animal welfare issues.”
