Mark was born and grew up in Mutare and after obtaining a BSc in Marine Biology in South Africa, he returned to Zimbabwe and qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon. Much to his wife’s relief, as she secretly suspected he was going to be a perpetual student, he was offered a fantastic position with a mixed practice in Harare where he gained experience with domestic, farm and wild animals.
Mark then moved to London where he ran a branch of a large practice. He missed his small town roots in the bustle of the big-city life, so after a few years, moved to a picturesque village on the edge of the New Forest where he became a partner in the local veterinary practice and eventually became the Director of his own practice. Mark enjoyed all aspects of his work in the UK but always kept in touch with his Zimbabwean background. In 2011, he was honoured to become associated with VAWZ UK.
He and his family are now back in Zimbabwe, where Mark has set up a brand new veterinary practice.
“Anyone who has lived in Zimbabwe will agree that we come from a very special place. However, it is not without its problems, and anything we can do to help the plight of those animals in need can only be a good thing”
